Consistency conjecture
Novikov consistency proposes that if trajectories into the past exist, only globally coherent histories can occur. The traveler participates in the past; does not rewrite it.
A single story, without contradictions
In a region with closed time curves, ordinary initial conditions may not suffice. The complete story must satisfy global constraints: any action of the traveler is already part of the events that led him to travel.
The grandfather paradox
If the traveler attempts to prevent his birth, something compatible with local laws must thwart the contradictory result. A mysterious force does not have to appear: a failure, a decision or incomplete information can close the loop. The conjecture does not explain what mechanism selects consistent stories; establishes the condition that must be met.
Information loops
A plane that is received from the future and sent to the past can exist without an identifiable author. There is no logical contradiction, but there is a problem of explanatory origin. These loops show that consistency and intuitive causality are not the same.
Quantum models
Different approaches represent the interaction with a time curve through fixed conditions, additions over histories or branches. Its predictions depend on the model; There is no experimental evidence of a region with these properties.
